2006 News & Meetings
+Our first planned meeting in 2006 will take place on Wednesday evening January 25th at the Listel Hotel. Doors open at 6:30 PM - No need to rsvp - Members and potential new members welcome. Former Vancouver City Councilor Gordon Price will guest speak on Vancouver's history and how some of the neighbourhoods came to be.

+On Thursday March 30th at 6:30 PM we'll

Guest speakers will include Vancouver Historian John Atkin, Melissa Pace of
Rocky Mountaineer Vacations and CTGA Member Shirley Hartwell. No need to rsvp.
+On Sunday April 9th, Vancouver Historian's (and CTGA Members) Jeff V and John A will conduct city lectures...Jeff will go first with his amazing City Tour Slide Show and Commentary Update, and after a break for lunch John will conduct a detailed walking tour of Chinatown. A fee for each will apply. You can take in one or both of these events... Open to Members and guests; for more details and to RSVP, please contact us.
+The annual Tourism Showcase will again take place at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver -- this year on Thursday afternoon April 13th. Please contact us for more details. Open to one and all. No need to rsvp and no charge.
+Another regular Members Meeting will take place on Thursday evening April 27th at 6:30 PM at the YWCA meeting and fitness centre located at 535 Hornby Street (at Dunsmuir) in Vancouver. There will be at least two guest speakers... No need to rsvp.
+The Annual Capilano Suspension Bridge's Tour Guide Appreciation Day Breakfast will take place on Tuesday morning May 2nd... From 8 AM to 11 AM... A trip to the IMAX Theatre at Canada Place will follow at Noon... Please contact us for more details and to RSVP.
+From May to October, there are few if any Members Meetings as we're all out working. Below are the known Meetings and events that are coming up...
+Tourism Vancouver has again invited our Members to their annual Open House on Wednesday October 4th in the late afternoon / early evening at their downtown offices at Burrard and Cordova Streets - Vancouver...please contact us for more details and to RSVP.
+This year's annual trip to the Sunwapta Falls (just South of Jasper Alberta) guide and driver dinner and dance 'do' will take place on Saturday night Oct 14th. We'll leave early on Friday morning October 13th, and return on Sunday night October 15th. Every second year our adventure either goes through Banff or Valemount / Jasper. It's Valemount and Jasper's turn this year, plus a visit to the Adams River Sockeye Run (near Kamloops) as well. This 3-day 2-night trip is only open to Members of the CTGA of BC -- a fee will apply. Meeting will take place on Thursday evening
October 26th from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Floata Restaurant in
Chinatown.
Located at 180 Keefer Street , between Main and Columbia in Vancouver's
Chinatown. There is a large parkade right beside the restaurant.
From 6 PM to 6:45 PM, Members may mingle and relax... This will be followed by a
dinner for those who wish to partake... The cost will be $20 and will cover
taxes, etc.
Several Chinatown area experts will then guest speak with us for the remainder
of the evening.

+The date of our Annual General Meeting has been moved from the third week of November to the following week... Thursday evening November 23rd at the YWCA; 733 Beatty Street (beside the Sandman Inn on Georgia St), Vancouver BC. The doors will open at 6 PM for registration of Members and the meeting will commence at 6:30 PM. This meeting is open to Members and potential New Members. No need to rsvp. We'll also have a CTGA of BC 17th Anniversary Birthday Cake handy!!!
+Our Annual Christmas Party will be held on Monday evening December 4th in the two-story penthouse of The Chapel at Stanley Park, Chilco at Alberni Streets in Vancouver. This event is open to Members and Guests. There is a cost involved and an RSVP is necessary. Please contact us ASAP.
+Our Annual Christmas Lights Tour will be held on Saturday evening December 16th ...This event is also open to Members and Guests. There is a small per person cost and an RSVP is necessary. Please contact us ASAP to learn where the pick-up points are.

A full Guide Lines newsletter is no longer posted here for all to see. Members who have e-mail are now receiving weekly guiding news and information through our closed-circuit message and notice board known as the E-group service. The members who do not have e-mail are still sent a newsletter via the postal system.
