2004 News & Meetings

+ The date of the Annual Brackendale Eagle Count day trip will be held on Sunday January 4th, 2004. Please contact us to RSVP if interested.

+ The regular end-of-the-month meeting for January will be on Thursday evening the 29th at the Vancouver Maritime Museum at 1905 Ogden Ave (Vanier Park) Vancouver. 6:30 PM to 9 PM...no need to rsvp. We'll get a tour and speech from James Delgado the Executive Director of the museum and one of the world's top maritime experts...he's also written over 25 books.

+ Please make note of the following two events and dates: We have arranged for a Vancouver "Secrets Tour" to be held on Saturday January 31st (includes a lunch), and for another "Neon Lights" night tour to be held on the evening of Saturday February 7th. Both of these require advance booking as there is additional information for you to receive. Please contact us if interested.

+ We are planning to hold our Annual About Town Tour on Tuesday February 10th. Please contact us for more details and to RSVP.

+ We are now planning our Annual three-day two-night February Trip for Seattle on Friday afternoon Feb 20th to Sunday night Feb 22nd. Please contact us for more details and to RSVP.

+ The regular end-of-the-month meeting for February will be held on Thursday evening the 26th at Hill's Native Art in Gastown (on Water at Cambie Street). 6:30 PM. A discussion on Native's, their culture and art will be given by a guest speaker. Please join us.

+ The regular end-of-the-month meeting for March will be held on Thursday evening the 25th at the historic Henry Birks and Sons building at 698 West Hastings (at Granville) in Vancouver. Guests from Birks, the forest industry and the Port of Vancouver will speak with us. The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM and there is no need to rsvp.

+TOURISM VANCOUVER & THE BC CHAPTER OF LES CLEF'S D'OR CANADA ANNOUNCE THE 4TH ANNUAL TOURISM SHOWCASE DATE - APRIL 16, 2004

Tourism Vancouver and the BC Chapter of Les Clef's D'or Canada will be presenting their 4th annual Tourism Showcase on Friday, April 16th from 2 - 6 PM at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. This annual tradeshow allows select member companies to showcase their product to key influencers such as members of the BC Chapter of Les Clef's D'or Canada, hotel concierges, hotel front desk staff, sales and marketing staff, Tourism Vancouver visitor information counselors and volunteers, tour guides, B&B owners and DMC staff - giving them the advantage of product knowledge. Proceeds raised from the event go to the BC Chapter of Les Clef's D'or Canada's official charity. + The Annual Capilano Suspension Bridge's Tour Guide Appreciation Day Breakfast will take place on Tuesday the 27th of April. The CTGA is also planning to hold an event that afternoon. Please check back with us for more information.

+ The regular end-of-the-month meeting for April will be held on Thursday evening the 29th at the, newly expanded, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Gardens in Vancouver's Chinatown (at Carrall and Pender). The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM and there is no need to rsvp.

+ The CTGA will be holding a meeting or meetings in May, however the dates and locations are not yet set. One venue will be the new "Storyeum" attraction that is scheduled to open in Gastown this spring. Please check back with us for further announcements.

+The Annual Sunwapta Falls Resort Guide & Driver Party will take place on Saturday October 16th, 2004. We will do our usual 3-day trip to this grand event starting on Friday October 15th, this year via Jasper Alberta, and will return on October 17th. Please contact us if interested (this trip open to members only).

+The first regular end-of-the-season meeting will be held on Thursday evening October 28th, 2004 at Storyeum in Gastown - 6 PM. We won't be seeing the 'show', but we will have a chance to socialize and meet some of the people behind this new year-round Vancouver attraction. Open to members and guests. No need to rsvp.

+The Annual General Meeting of the CTGA of BC will take place on Thursday evening November 18th, 2004 at the Listel Hotel, 1300 Robson (at Jervis) Street, Vancouver BC. Doors open for registration at 6:30 PM and the meeting will start at 7 PM. No need to rsvp.

+The Annual CTGA Christmas Party will take place on Monday evening December 6th, 2004 at the Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park. The date of the Annual Christmas Lights Tour will be on Monday night December 20th...open to members and guests...Please contact Jeff V for costs and pick-up times and locations.

These Guide Lines newsletters now only contain information about our upcoming meetings and events to which we hope members and potential new members will be able to join us at.

A full Guide Lines newsletter is no longer posted here for all to see. Members who have e-mail are now receiving weekly guiding news and information through our closed-circuit message and notice board known as the E-group service. The members who do not have e-mail are still sent a newsletter via the postal system.
