Winter 2002 / Spring 2003

+Upcoming Meetings: Thursday October 24th, 2002 at The Lookout at Harbour Centre, Hastings and Seymour in Vancouver at 6:30 PM. Join us for a Wine and Cheese Reception at the first meeting after the summer season...also hear from a guest speaker with Tourism Vancouver and a new Vancouver tourist operator.

+Thursday November 21st, 2002 at the Sandman Hotel, 180 West Georgia Street in Vancouver for the Annual General Meeting. Doors open at 6 PM for Registration and the Meeting begins at 7 PM. A review of all the Directors Reports and the Election of the 2003 Board will take place.

+Monday December 9th, 2002 the Annual Christmas Party which will be held once again at Grouse Mountain!!! Open to all members and one guest for $35 per person which includes the gondola ride, dinner and other events. For more information or to RSVP, please contact the CTGA of BC ASAP!!!

+The CTGA of BC Annual Christmas Lights Fundraising Tour will take place sometime between December 13th and the 18th, 2002 in the early evening for about two and a half hours. The tour visit's many festive lit homes in Vancouver and Burnaby. The date is still being determined as are the other details. Cost: $12 for non-members...$10 for members and seniors...$7 for kids 12 & under. There will be a pick up in downtown Vancouver at approx. 6:45 PM as well as at least one other pick-up location. +The CTGA of BC Annual Brackendale (Squamish) Eagle Count Fundraising Tour will take place on Sunday January 5th, 2003. Join us on this day trip as we travel up the Howe Sound to be with thousands of these majestic birds of prey. Other stops of interest as well as time for lunch (optional...on own). Open to members and non-members. Cost: $12 for non-members...$10 for members and seniors...$7 for kids 12 & under. Pick ups begin around 8:30 AM at various points including downtown Vancouver. +A meeting will take place of proposed changes to our Bylaws on Monday evening January 20th, 2003 at 6:30 PM at the Sandman Hotel, 180 West Georgia Street Vancouver BC.

+Our next regular end-of-the-month members meeting will take place on Thursday evening January 30th, at 6:30 PM at the Orpheum Theatre for a tour of this 75 year old classic heritage building. No need to rsvp and please meet at the Smithe and Seymour Street doors. Please arrive well before 7 PM as the doors will be locked after that.

+Our next Annual About Town Tour is being planned for Thursday February 13th, 2003. Check back here for more details.

+We will be going to the Tofino-Long Beach area on Feb 22, 23, and the 24th, 2003.

+On Thursday evening Feb 27 at 6:30 PM, the CTGA of BC will hold at meeting at the Vancouver Art Gallery in downtown Vancouver. Two guest speakers will be present.

+The Annual Capilano Suspension Bridge's Tourist Guide Appreciation Day Breakfast is Thursday morning April 17th, 2003 from 8 AM to 10 AM. The CTGA will then host a 90-minute downtown walking tour at 11 AM begining at the Cathedral Square office tower at 925 West Georgia Street, Vancouver. At 2 PM we will tour the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre in Vanier Park (Kits Point) Vancouver...among the many displays is a new exhibit on the "100th Anniversary of Flight." No costs and no need to rsvp.

+Other meetings, guest speakers, fam-trips, About Town Tour, and invites will also take place from February to May. Please check back with us for further details.

These Guide Lines newsletters now only contain information about our upcoming meetings and events to which we hope members and potential new members will be able to join us at.

A full Guide Lines newsletter is no longer posted here for all to see. Members who have e-mail are now receiving weekly guiding news and information through our closed-circuit message and notice board known as the E-group service. The members who do not have e-mail are still sent a newsletter via the postal system.
